Photographing kids part one
Kids
I think it's inevitable that every newborn parent gets infected by that 'infamous kids photography virus'. From day one onwards, you start documenting every unimportant detail of the child's life by taking as many photos as possible. What's even worse is that you start showing all these photos to just about every poor soul who comes within your reach. I know, I am by no means an exception to this rule...

Luckily there are some good things coming from it too. E.g., having taken all these photos also means that I've had plenty of time to work on my people photography skills and become more critical again on the esthetical quality of the photos themselves (allowing for my family and friends to visit us safely again). Also this new 'hobby' turned out to be more fun then I ever expected. In fact, it quickly has become one of my favourite types of photography.

If you like to learn about some of the techniques I use regularly when photographing kids, then continue reading part one. This part concentrates on photographing babies (At a later stage I will write an article about photographing little kids) read on...

A bit of an awkward first week for pixelseverywhere
Update: pixelseverwhere is switched back to the original webserver...

The introduction of pixelseverywhere started of smoothly. I quickly got more visitors than I could hope for and I got some very positive reactions too!

To attract a completely new audience I also added the site to the showcase of realmacsoftware (I used their tool, rapidweaver, to create this site). It was amazing to see that I quickly got listed as one of the most visited sites ever! You can see this for yourself here.

The rest of the week was not as joyful due to some regrettable personal circumstances, and on top of that pixelseverywhere went off-line for days because of a dissapointing performance of the company that hosts this site (so much for "99.9% UPTIME GUARANTEE" marketing speech...)

Since their webserver still isn't fully operational I decided to move the site temporarily to my ISP (xs4all, that proved to be very reliable in the past). However, because the functionality the ISP provides is more basic and I can't have my own domain name (I use a less preferable redirection for now) it will be moved again soon.

Hopefully I can start updating the content again later this week. I have a new article on "kids photography" in the works and I will add some new photos to the galleries, so stay tuned!

The perfect evening
Mosel valley
Mosel valley, Germany

When faced with an impressive scene it's all too easy to get overwhelmed and start shooting right away without taking the time to exploring it first. In "the perfect evening" I had all the time to find the best viewpoint by using a number of techniques I've learned through the years. I also took advantage of wide-angle- as well as tele lenses to create two very different images of the same scene.

To explore the beautiful evening sunlit river valley at the left read on...

Welcome
Welcome to the brand new pixelseverywhere.com! For way to long I have had plans to breathe some new life into my existing photography site. This site basically came to a halt due to the fact that it was troublesome to update and outdated in design. What I really wanted was a more modern identity, a more attractive way of presenting my photos and the ability to do some blogging.

To make a long story short; after many hours of sweating, this new site is finally live. Although a reasonable selection from my personal photography is already on-line expect more to come throughout the year.

Totally new for me is the writings section. Since I have answered so many questions about photography over the years through mail, forums or personal discussions I have been toying with the idea to share some of my experience through a weblog. I have some enjoyable subjects in mind to write about and I like to start off with "the perfect evening". This article is about one of these (scarce) photography moments where everything seems to work out even better then you could hope for. Check it out here...

Now, have a look around and let me know what you think using the commenting functionality or by email.
